Empty container handling up to four times faster with BLOK
BLOK container products deliver a complete solution for all aspects of empty container handling and potential solutions to make future laden handling much more efficient.
BLOK makes the process faster, safer and greener while enabling terminals to make more money with less work and delivers faster turn-around for shipping lines, which can be deployed for ‘slow sailing’ saving fuel and emissions.
BLOK Spreaders are electric spreader adaptors stationed at the port which convert any spreader into a tandem lift spreader able to lift blocks of 2 columns of empty VTLs in one lift.
BLOK Trailers guide, transport and then feed twistlocks into the corner castings. Automatic jigging speeds up spreader operations.
The BLOK Rig automatically strips and feeds SATs into the corner castings and will remove and fit the twistlocks from containers in single, tandem and VTL. The basic manual BLOK Rig can fit four twistlocks semi-automatically under a container, and remove four twistlocks semi-automatically from a container.
The BLOK Cert also makes use of the BLOK Rig and offers a proof test load and certification.

With its origins in medieval times Perth Harbour has adapted to meet the changing pattern of trade over the centuries and is today a modern, efficient and well-run harbour well suited to meet the needs of the 21st century.
The harbour is strategically located at Friarton the highest navigable point on the river Tay and is about one mile from Perth city centre, a bustling city of around 50,000 inhabitants and 30 miles from the North Sea.
The Port is owned by Perth and Kinross Council and operated by CalMac Harbours, a division of CalMac Ferries Ltd. Perth and Kinross Council are also the navigation authority for the River Tay between the harbour and Balmerino. Pilotage from Balmerino to Perth Harbour is Non-Compulsory, should pilotage be required this can be arranged directly with the Perth Harbour office.
Compulsory pilotage between Balmerino and the Tay Sea limits at Dundee is operated by the Forth & Tay Navigation Service.
Perth Harbour benefits from its connection to an excellent network of motorways, dual carriageways and the national rail network, making it ideal for fast and easy transportation of goods to all areas of Scotland and Northern England. Airports are located at Dundee (20 miles) and Edinburgh (50 miles).
The ports location at the heart of Scotland gives it a unique advantage over its coastal based competitors. By bringing ships closer to the source or destination of their cargoes Perth Harbour provides a lower cost alternative to larger coastal ports and by cutting haulage miles, generates both financial and environmental benefits.
Perth Harbour accepts coastal and dry bulk ships up to 100 metres in length. With modern ship design allowing greater cargo capacity on lower drafts ships carrying over 2500 tonnes can be accommodated at the harbour. Because of the efficiencies of scale and excellent cargo handling facilities at Perth, vessels can normally be received on one high tide and depart on the next, thus ensuring maximum efficiency. The Port can operate 24-hours, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
Imports and exports passing through Perth Harbour to UK, Scandinavian, European and Baltic ports regularly include animal feed (mainly fishmeal), packaged timber and export logs although grain, fertiliser, chemicals, wood pulp, building material and baryte ore have all been successfully handled in the past.
Ample cranes with safe working loads of up to 40 tonnes are available together with fork trucks and other mobile handling equipment suitable for all types of cargoes. Fresh water is available at all berths and services such as stores, and fuel can be arranged by the ship’s agents.
There is a long-established culture at Perth Harbour where agents and operators work enthusiastically with existing and new customers to provide the best possible level of service at an attractive cost. The main shipping agents, operators and Harbour Master have an excellent working relationship providing a better service for our customers. The level of service that they provide individually and jointly is unlikely to be found at other larger ports.
With a generous operational area within the harbour and located amongst a thriving business hub a short distance from the city centre, the harbour is well placed for business development.
Perth Harbour also benefits from a growing community of commercial neighbours including some of Perth’s most successful and long-established companies.

Peterhead is one of the UK’s most versatile ports, providing exceptional all-weather, congestion-free deep-water berthing facilities at depths of up to 14 metres and serving a broad range of industries including oil and gas, renewables, fishing and leisure. We are proud of our heritage as the UK’s largest white fish and pelagic (mackerel and herring) port and are building on our reputation as a traditional centre of excellence for both fishing fleets by providing a full range of constantly updated modern quayside services including on-site fish market, ice and water plants, fuel supplies, and ship repair and maintenance at our slipway, syncrolift and dry dock.
And we are equally proud of the role we have played in the development of North Sea oil and gas over the past 40 years, successfully serving areas such as rig IRM, surveying, diving support, offshore logistics and safety, subsea exploration and construction. We also have a thriving leisure craft marina, we welcome cruise ships, and our quays accommodate a full range of other cargoes and commodities including frozen fish, agricultural products such as grain, timber and fertiliser, as well as complex fabrication projects and bulk handling. Now we are moving the port of Peterhead to the next level with the opening of our newest facility, built to further serve not only all our existing markets but also the growing renewables and decommissioning sectors. Smith Quay adds an easily accessed berth with a 10 metres water depth and able to accommodate vessels up to 160 metres in length to more than 3 kilometres of existing alongside berthing. Smith Quay has a working area of 16,000 square metres - including heavy-lift and module skidding capabilities - and full quayside servicing and is operated by NorSea Group. Our clients know they save time and money with well-managed, efficient port calls, and that’s why they come to Peterhead. How can the Peterhead Port Authority team help you optimise yours? Port of Sunderland is owned and operated by Sunderland City Council and is one of the UK’s leading municipal ports. The port consists of a 265-acre site situated on the south side of the River Wear.
Positioned at the heart of the North East coastline, Port of Sunderland is just minutes from open sea providing a gateway to the world. Its accessibility from sea teamed with excellent road, rail and air links, makes the port ideally placed for import and export projects.
The port regularly handles commodities such as steel, wood pulp, construction materials, aggregates etc.
With deep water berths open 24/7 and large ship capability, the port can play a major role in supporting the offshore and renewable energy sector, as well as providing comprehensive port operations services and potential for operations and maintenance activities.
Developments within the port’s estate have included the progression of infrastructure enabling works to deliver two ‘shovel ready’ development sites comprising 20 acres of Enterprise Zone approved areas with recently reinstalled rail connectivity.
