On June 19, 2023, the Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS) came into effect, replacing the UK’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP). This new scheme introduces a more straightforward and generous framework designed to enhance trade with developing countries, thereby supporting their economic development. Additionally, the DCTS benefits UK businesses and consumers by lowering the import costs of thousands of products from around the globe.

The DCTS encompasses 65 countries, specifically targeting:

  • Least Developed Countries (LDCs) as defined by the United Nations
  • Low-income and lower-middle-income countries as defined by the World Bank

UK Ports proudly supports developing countries under the Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS). This vital initiative reduces tariffs, removes conditions, and simplifies trading rules for 65 developing countries. For non-members of UK Ports, we kindly request a small voluntary donation.
